I have always felt there to be something sophisticated and classic about grandfather clocks. In one of the malls nearest to me, there is a store that sells only grandfather clocks. I LOVE going in there to browse around and see all of the styles, new and old. The styles are really diverse; some look like clocks out of the Victorian age, some remind me of Venetian carnivals, and some look high tech and modern with metal frames and geometric shapes. A person could really find and pick out a grandfather clock that expresses who they are and adds to the atmosphere of their home. With proper maintenance, you clock can last a long, long time and be a very beautiful element in your home.

While looking at grandfather clocks, I came across this one, which is quite a lovely clock with so many elegant and beautiful elements to it. I absolutely love the moon phases at the top and that the numbers are written in Arabic form rather than Roman numeral. After I had looked at the clock, I thought: “Where would I put a clock like this?” Perhaps I would put the clock right by the entrance way of my home so that anyone who walked in the door could see the clock; it would be a way of introducing our guests into our home, a representation of the atmosphere that I want to create in the rest of the home. Yet, I also thought that I would like it in a more relaxed and calm place in the house. In the living room, perhaps, where I could gaze up from reading a book to watch the dial of the clock move. With how much I have always wanted a grandfather clock, I would probably want it somewhere in my home that I could stare at it and really appreciate having it!
