All the ETC:
Okay, so it was arrogance that made me decide to walk during my graduation on May 10th of this year. I am getting a bachelors degree in history with a focus on education. The entire idea of sitting there in the hot sun bored with a stupid hat on does not appeal to me in the slightest. But I am going to do it because my mother really wants me to. I decided that it was worth it to do it for her since she helped me so much through college and it will make her so proud to see me walk with all my stoles and honor cords Summa Cum Laude.
So far, I have just ordered all of my honor society stoles and cords:
Phi Alpha Theta (History Honor Society)

Goldenkey (Top 15% Honor Society)
Phi Kappa Phi (Top 7% Honor Society)

Go figure, though, that when I open my package from Phi Kappa Phi, all that was in there was the stole, no cord. Yeah, an honor society and the people who work there are apparently stupid. They sure as hell charged me for the cord, though. So, I contacted them on Thursday and as of today (Friday), I have not heard back. Naturally, the Phi Kappa Phi store was very quick to get my money, but they’re not so quick when it comes to support. Since I have already decided to wear the Phi Alpha Theta stole and the Golden Key and Phi Kappa Phi cords, it’s pretty important that I get those cords.
Damn them.
I also got this in the mail Thursday:

So, I totally RSVP’d. I think I want to go.
Now, next step is cap and gown and announcements. And getting my damn cord from Phi Kappa Phi that they owe me.

I hope you get your cord, most companies are like that they are happy to take your money but not much else.

wow, congratulations
i remember how college graduation was like for me, it’s exciting to graduate with honors
you deserve to walk down the aisle. and good luck with the Phi Kappa Phi cord.
At least your univ had the sense to do the graduation on a Saturday. My brother’s graduation (summa cum laude - he’s been studying architecture) is the day before at 3:00, and I have AP testing that day so I doubt I’ll be going. Not that I want to - but he really wants me to be there.
In any case, congratulations and you make us all proud - if the cords never show up, Phi Kappa Phi will get their just desserts
(kidding).
Congratulations — that’s amazing! You have all of these Honors’ stoles and chords that you’ll be able to show off, too.
Although I finished my coursework last December, I officially graduate on May. I can’t wait!
congrats on graduating with such distinction. it’s also very nice of you to go through with the ceremony for your mom. i know i’d totally skip it and tell them to mail me my diploma, thanks. look at all those adorments you got to wear, tho. what, nothing with flashing lights on it? ;-P
Yeah, I totally understand the hot graduation thing. When I graduated from HS (with a class of 350) and both bleacher sides filled, and the only thing you get is the door open, it sucks. I’m surprised no one passed out…ormaybe they did? hmmm.
Shiny! I’m so proud of you and all the hard work you’ve put in. hehe, I look at all those symbols of the hard work you put into school and can remember nights talking to you while you wondered if you passed a test and with the right score.
I always knew you had, because you were just that good, and those cords and stole prove it.
I hope I can succeed even half as well with the start of my collage career and honor the person (you) who inspired me to go back after a degree.
And I so want pictures! At least one, so I can show it off to mommy!
